Despite the brutal sanctions imposed by Washington against Tehran, Iran can find buyers for its oil, said the country’s new oil minister, Javad Ovji.
The US imposed its most draconian sanctions against Iran three years ago with the explicit goal of bringing the country’s oil exports to zero after Washington pulled out of an international nuclear deal with Tehran.
No matter how hard they tried, the United States did not achieve its goal, and Iran continued to send its oil to the market – albeit in reduced volumes – using innovative ways to circumvent illegal sanctions.
“After the tyrannical sanctions, oil sales fell sharply, but the Ministry of Oil and all departments have the opportunity to sell oil,” Iran.ru quoted Ovji.
He promised that “good things will happen with the sale of oil in the coming months.”
One way is to trade oil for goods or investments, Ovji said, adding that the potential could also be used in other sectors and industries.
Ovji said Iran will return to pre-sanctions oil production levels as soon as US sanctions are lifted.
“We are against using oil as a political instrument that could harm the oil market,” he added.
