Bucharest intends to become part of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) in the future, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Romania Lulian Robert Tudorake said.
The implementation of the SGC project and its role for Europe was discussed in Baku during the meeting of Azerbaijani Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov with L.R. Tudorake on Tuesday, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan reports.
The Secretary of State expressed Romania’s support for the SGC project and noted the important role of the BRUA gas pipelines and the Bulgaria-Romania interconnector in expanding this corridor to Central Europe. “Romania is interested in becoming part of SGC in the future,” said L.R. Tudorake. P. Shahbazov, in his turn, highly appreciated the position of Romania on SGC and informed about the prospects for its expansion due to the increase in throughput.
