Specialists of environmental protection department of Scientific and Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern Turkmengaz have big experience in provision of ecological safety in oil and gas sector.
The work of scientists is built in accordance with the standards of ecological safety in fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan.
More than hundred environmental protection projects have been completed for gas production facilities of the State Concern Turkmengas for the years of work of the department since 2001. The norms of allowable emissions and discharges developed in the department are successfully passed the expertise in the State Committee for Natural Protection and Land Resources.
The department has modern testing equipment, stationary and portable laboratories. It allows the specialists making scientific and research works on control of population, making tests at the territory of the facilities and on the borders of sanitary protection zones, in the settlements bordering with the facilities. Modern software of Ecolog series from Integral company is used during development of the projects. Presence of harmful substances are tested during drilling using the instruments as well as recommendations on disposal of produced water and sulphur at deep horizons are given.
In the first half of the year, the specialists of the institute made monitoring of ecological safety at the facilities of the State Concerns Turkmengaz and Turkmengeologiya. Ecological passports and projects of allowable discharges have been prepared and issued to Turkmentransgaz Association, Turkmengazgeophizika and Lebapgazdobycha Departments and to all gas production facilities ate Bagaja, Nayip, Northern Balkui, kugurtly, Gazlydepe and other fields.
The specialists of the Institute completed the development of ecological documentation for petrochemical complex, which is currently under construction in Kiyanly. Ecological passport has been made for the first time by the order of the representative of the consortium that builds this industrial giant – «Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd» (the Republic of Korea) as well as environment impact assessment of the auxiliary equipment of future plant – the evaporation ponds, has been made and the draft project of permissible discharge of technical water to Caspian Sea has been developed. Based on these documents, the State Committee for Natural Protection and Land Resources made test and issued the permit on operation of the facilities.
After opening of the facility, the cooperation of Turkmen ecologists with the consortium will be continued. It will be built based on the Law of Turkmenistan on Ecological Safety, which makes the specialists of fuel and energy complex implement modern technologies, provide efficient control of the environment, improve the system of ecological standards and requirements to the facilities under construction.
Environment engineers of the Institute of Natural Gas participate in the final stage of works on construction of another petrochemical facility, which is built Ovadandepe, next to Ashgabat. Multi-stage technology of production of gasoline from natural gas will be under control of the specialists of the State Concern Turkmengaz.
Personnel of laboratory made study of the Eastern Cheleken field and made environment assessment of Hazar Consortium. The report has been made and recommendations on bringing the environment in accordance with the requirements of the state standards have been given by the outcomes of the monitoring.
Soon, the Institute will have to complete the development of ecological passport and project of the norms of allowable emission for three large facilities of Chinese National Petroleum Company (CNPC), which produce and process natural gas at Bagtiyarlyk contractual territory on the right bank of Amudarya River. Our specialists made contracts with Chinese partners for monitoring of gas processing facilities at Saman-Depe, Southern Hojambas and compressor station delivering gas to China.
