On May 21, 2018, at about 9:00 am, a group of unidentified persons have made an attempt of attack. This incident occurred in one of the most unsafe districts of Afghanistan, namely Maiwand.
Notwithstanding the occurred incident, as of today 70% of the pipeline route survey works, including the section that falls within the territory of the Maiwand district, have been successfully completed or are at its final stage, and no problem with the safety of 1,500 employees had ever occurred. In fact, this incident was the only case happened since the beginning of the field surveys in the territory of Afghanistan.
The thorough investigation of the incident is underway. In addition, the Project Company together with the Contractors put additional efforts to provide extra security measures for the employees.
Nevertheless, TAPI Pipeline Company Limited continues its work in accordance with the schedule towards successful construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, which will bring peace and stability to the Afghan people.
