Exploration carried out at the Turkmen super-giant Galkynysh field in 2016 by the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation makes it possible to say that the gas-bearing zone of the field has expanded in the north-western direction, online newspaper of the country’s Oil and Gas Complex said.
Commercial inflow of natural gas in the volume of 1.028 million cubic meters per day was obtained at a well drilled 4,511-4,503 meters deep on the Chelekbay area.
Khalkabat is another promising area, which occupies 18.2 square kilometers. The design depth of 4,000 meters was reached at the first exploration well.
Commercial inflows of sweet gas in the amount of 181,600 cubic meters, as well as 32.4 cubic meters of condensate per day were obtained following the results of a test at a depth of 3,070-3,064 meters.
According to the audit held by the UK’s Gaffney, Cline & Associates, reserves of the Galkynysh, together with reserves of the Yashlar field, are estimated at 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas and reaches 27.4 trillion cubic meters – together with reserves of the reopened Garakel field.
Experts say that these resources are enough for ensuring long-term supplies of fuel both through all the operating export directions (China and Iran) and the planned pipelines (to Europe and India).
