The Turkish company OMV Petrol Ofisi A.S. (owned by Austrian OMV AG) agreed to sell its terminal in Aliaga (near Izmir) to a group of international investors led by SOCAR. OMV Petrol Ofisi A.S. spread a message, saying that “the deal, subject to certain conditions, including approval by antitrust authorities in Turkey, is expected to be closed by the end of 2016.”
OMV Petrol Ofisi A.S. notes that the sale of the terminal corresponds to the “strategy of a gradual increase in the effectiveness of the company’s terminal network and supply chain.”
“At the same time it opens up significant opportunities for cooperation with the Star refinery, which SOCAR builds,” the statement says.
The Aliaga terminal has a capacity to store around 200 thousand cubic meters of fuel. The terminal also has a storage capacity of 45 thousand cubic meters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Not far from OMV Petrol Ofisi A.S. SOCAR builds the Star refinery, which is scheduled to start by 2018.
