On March 28, 2016 the state concern Turkmenneftegastsroi started welding of the pipes of the linear section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) on the territory of Turkmenistan, reported the Turkmenistan Oil & Gas Ministry on Monday.
“According to the project estimate documents, in order to accelerate the gas pipeline construction, the road will be built for delivery of pipes, the corridor along the pipeline route will be planned and built and two shelves will be installed to weld the pipes,” said the same source.
Over 100 units of special equipment will be used during the works.
The engineering services of Turkmengas have completed topographic survey and engineering works on over 200 km long of the route – from the Galkynysh field to the Afghan border.
The compressor station and some facilities, including water scoops, engineering networks, access roads, dispatcher points, watch districts and power lines, are expected to be built on the Turkmen section, says the same source.
The ceremony of commencement of construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI with the power of 33 bcm of gas a year took place on December 13, 2015. The pipe length will be 1814 km, of which 214 km in Turkmenistan, 774 km will lie in Afghanistan and 826 km in Pakistan.
