LUKoil plans to extract over 7 million tons of oil a year in the Caspian Sea after launching of the Vladimir Filanovsky field, reported the Astrakhan district administration on Tuesday.
The same source said that last year seven more production wells were drilled on LUKoil’s first field named after Yurii Korchagin and now their number reached 23. “Almost 1.7 million tons of oil has been extracted on this field and total production exceeded 5.5 million tons,” added the same source.
Filanovsky and Korchagin fields are located in the Russian sector on the north of the Caspian Sea. Extraction on the Korchagin field started in 2010. The hydrocarbon resources on the field exceed 270 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Filanovsky field was discovered in 2005. The extractible oil resources of C1 and C2 categories total 153.1 million tons and gas – 32.2 bcm. The field development project started three years ago. Earlier it was reported quoting LUKoil President Vagit Alekperov that Filanovsky field development works are delayed and the field will be ready to be launched in August 2016.
