It is unclear how long the search for 26 oilmen, which went missing on December 4, 2015 on Guneshli and Neft Dashlary fields, is going to last, said Dashgyn Iskandarov, General Director of Azneft of SOCAR, at a press conference.
“Because of a very strong wing the bodies could have been taken away in various directions. We are trying to search in all possible directions. The search could last 10-15 days depending on the result. We are no losing hope and we are going to continue the search. Extinguishing of fire on four gas wells continues using five vessels. For this purpose we first of all need to supply the platform with water,” he added.
Khalik Mammadov, SOCAR Vice President for Personnel and Information Technologies, said that bad weather conditions have complicated the rescue operations.
“Because of strong wind and high waves our search operations are delayed and search for the missing oilmen is getting more difficult,” he added.
He also said that bodies of 6 oilmen were found earlier on the border of the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea.
