Iran has allowed Shell and Total companies building 200 petrol stations on the territory of the country as soon as the sanctions against Iran are lifted, reported Iranian Mehr News agency quoting Bijan Hadj Mohammadreza, chief of the Iranian Union of Petrol Stations Owners.
He added that Shell and Total will build 100 petrol stations in Tehran and other cities of the country after the sanctions are lifted.
This step is aimed at helping the famous manufacturers to develop Iranian industry, said head of the Union.
He also added that talks are in progress with several oil refineries to sell and rent some oil and gas storages.
Before the sanctions in 2009 Iran imported 40% of petrol for the local market. But the international sanctions have made it to start petrol production at the local market. Iran manufactured petrol with admixture of lead and toxic chemical catalysts.
Administration of President Rouhani has ordered to stop production of low quality petrol, which has led to its shortage in the country.
* At present Iran imports 6.5 million liters of petrol a day.
