Azerbaijan does not see obstacles for gas transportation from Turkmenistan via the Caspian Sea bottom, Vitalii Beglyarbekov, SOCAR Deputy Vice President, said in his interview to EurActiv.
“We admit that borders of the sectors between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have not been established yet. However, laying of the pipeline should not be mixed with the issue of the Caspian Sea legal status. Not only gas from Turkmenistan could be delivered via the SGC. Iran has a lot of gas and this is the second gas-richest country in the world. There is also a lot of gas in Iraq and Syria and now even in Israel,” Beglyarbekov added.
