Investments into development of renewable and alternative sources power in Azerbaijan totaled 800 million AZN ($1 billion), said Jamil Melikov, deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Sources of Power, at CISOLAR-2015 conference in Baku yesterday.
“Until now about 800 million AZN has been invested from various sources into development of various directions of alternative and renewable sources of power. During 2014 63.6 million has been spent for this purpose,” he added.
He also added that at present Azerbaijan has been working on creation of hybrid and solar power stations with the capacity about 3 MWt.
Melikov added that the settlement with the population of 12,000 people is supplied by the electric energy generated at the experimental ground in Gobustan district.
He added that the plant producing solar panels continues working. Its capacity has increased from the initial 100,000 to 200,000 panels a year, which means production of 50 MWt of electric energy.
It is not clear how investments into alternative energy have increased all of a sudden. Share of alternative power in total electric energy generation does not even reach 1%. Where were the investments directed? Judging by all, the calculations since 2000 included even big hydraulic power stations, which have been built by Azerenerji.
