The retail gasoline prices keep on dropping in the US. During the past two weeks it dropped to about $0.25 and is not in average $2.47 per gallon (about $0.65 per liter) of gasoline with the lowest octane number.
Therefore, gasoline price in the US dropped to the minimum level since May 2009. Since May 2014 1 gallon of gasoline went down by over $1.25.
The poll of 2,500 petrol stations done by Lundberg Survey showed that the most expensive gasoline is sold now in Long Island, New York’s suburb – 1 gallon of low octane gasoline costs $2.82. The cheapest gasoline is in Tals city, Oklahoma state – $2.06 per gallon.
Analysts claim that reduction of gasoline prices in the US is directly connected with reduction of oil prices at the world markets, mainly because of declining demand in oil. During the past two weeks oil went down by 14.2% at the NYMEX. Last Friday at the last auctions future contracts for oil deliveries in January 2015 were concluded with the price of $57.13 per barrel.
Experts believe that reduction of retail gasoline prices in US could be continued in the coming weeks, because of possible reduction of oil price, reported http:itar-tass.com.
