According to the estimates of geologists of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the volume of oil extracted from offshore field Neft Dashlary totals 22 million tons.
SOCAR claims that according to the specified data, geological resources of the first offshore Caspian field total 384 million tons of oil. The volume of extractible oil reaches 193 million tons.
“This is a good index of oil extractability, which is a little bit over 50%. The indexes of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli bloc, which is being developed by BP, are almost the same,” said a source from SOCAR.
171 million tons of oil and 13.3 billion cub.m. of associated gas has been extracted on the field to date.
“201 million tons of water has been injected into the beds to extract this volume of oil,” a source from SOCAR explained.
At present Neft Dashlary field produces almost 900,000 tons of oil a year. Considering these indexes, production of hydrocarbons from the first Caspian field will continue for 25 more years till 2040.
* Neft Dashlary field located 100 km east of Baku was discovered on November 7, 1949. The production rate of the first well totaled over 1000 tons. The first tanker with offshore oil was shipped to the shore in December 1951. The field has been developed by construction of piers. The piers 301 km long have been built on the field up to now.
