Tengiz is going to start construction of the plant, which will increase the volume of production from 24 to 36 million tons a year, reported Kazinform.
“The sketch design of the third generation plant has been fully completed. We have started its detailed designing in Atyrau, Almaty, Aktau, UK and USA. Creation of infrastructure for the future project, which will allow increasing oil production by 12 million tons a year, has already started on the Tengiz field,” Rzabek Artygaliyev, General Manager for Public Relations of Tengizchevroil, said at the public hearings in Atyrau.
According to the preliminary information, cost of the project is about $40 billion. Construction is planned to be completed in 2019. The new plant will be assembled of the modules with a total weight of 253,000 tons.
“The modules will be assembled in Kazakhstan and many countries of the world. Some of them are very big. The biggest 88 modules will weigh between 300 and 1800 tons.
The ways to deliver the modules from Kazakhstan’s cities are being considered now. From the western countries the modules will be delivered via Black Sea to Russia and then through the Volgo-Don canal to the Aktau port,” General Manager of the company’s projects Rocky Brennen said at the public hearings.
