Kazakhstan plans to issue between 50 and 100 licenses for the geological exploration works. The licenses are planned to be issued beginning next year after introduction of amendments into some legislations on use of bowels of earth, reported BNews.kz.
The main points of the legislation are aimed at improvement of the investment climate in Kazakhstan. The document containing the second packet of amendments, the Code on Use of Bowels of Earth, will be passed in Kazakhstan in 2014 or 2015.
“Next year will be, probably, the most active year and we expect arrival of international mining companies in Kazakhstan,” Yerlan Sagadiyev, Kazakhstan Vice President for Investments and Development, said in London.
He said the new rules will be simpler, than before.
“The new technologies “open great opportunities for the mining companies, which are ready to come and discover new fields. We have not drilled deeper than 500 meters in this country yet,” he concluded.
