Italian Minister of Environment Janluka Galletti has signed the decree on the ecological compatibility of the project submitted by Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) company for the Italian section of TAP gas pipeline.
According to the pipeline company, the project has been approved after regular discussions with the local communities, consultations with publicity and close cooperation with the national and local branches of power involved in the process.
TAP is going to create a world class project in Italy and will continue working closely with all the sides involved in the project.
The final report on environment impact of the project shows its absolute correspondence to the Italian and EU legislations and international demands of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Financial Corporation (IFC).
Total length of the pipeline is 870 km. Construction of the pipeline with the initial carrying capacity of 10 billion cub.m. is expected to begin in 2016. The first gas from the Shah Deniz field will be transported to the European markets in 2019.
TAP shareholders include BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (16%), Total (10%), E.ON (9%) and Axpo (5%).
