By 2018 BP plans to increase number of its local employees in Azerbaijan up to 90%, said Gordon Birrell, BP-Azerbaijan President, in his interview to SOCAR Plus magazine.
BP is the operator of development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli bloc of fields, Shah Deniz gas condensate field, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline and the South Caucasian gas pipeline.
Birrell said the company employs over 2900 Azerbaijani citizens, which makes over 85% of qualified BP personnel in the country.
“By 2018 we are going to increase this index up to 90%, which is one of our main commitments,” he added.
Azerbaijan and BP have signed the agreement on cooperation to train local man power at the Gobustan training centre and the memorandum on mutual understanding on hiring and appointment to the positions.
The signed documents will allow expanding cooperation between the countries in field of nationalization of local staff in the claimed professions in the oil and gas industry.
The memorandum will allow SOCAR and BP creating the local staff database of claimed professions and efficiently using resources of the database.
