For the first time Belarus has started commercial oil extraction from the dense beds on the horizontal well No 310 of the Rechitsk field, reported Belarusneft.
Belarusneft started drilling of the well on February 28, 2014. The stages of scientific work, geological and technical substantiation of the possibility of implementation have preceded that.
The production rate of the well is 20 tons a day. The extractible oil resources here could total 700,000 tons. This volume is comparable with the resources of discovered Belarus fields. Oil extracted using the new technology based on the multi-stage hydraulic fracturing is viscous unlike the traditional oil extracted on the Rechitsk field.
The Rechitsk field is the main oil field of Belarus. The commercial production here started in 1965. During this period over 125 million tons of oil and 14 billion cub.m. of associated gas has been extracted.
