The 5th regional conference of the European and Central Asian countries on ‘Turkmenistan’s experience on associated petroleum gas flaring’ is underway in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, the country’s Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources said.
Representatives of oil and gas sector of the interested countries have been invited to the conference, according to the ministry.
The following issues are being discussed at the conference: ‘Promising areas of processing hydrocarbon gas at Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries’, ‘Turkmenistan’s experience in associated petroleum gas flaring’, ‘Associated gas flaring: Burun field’.
Turkmenistan is interested in the full-scale development of the richest hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea.
The country also pays special attention to the projects in the spheres of associated petroleum gas processing, as well as increasing the level of environmental safety in order to ensure the growth of hydrocarbon reserves.
Some 32 licensed blocks with estimated 11 billion metric tons of oil and 5.5 trillion cubic meters of gas (excluding contracted blocks) in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea have been put up for an international tender.
