From January to July 2014 3.1 million tons of transit oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, which is used to export over 75% of oil extracted in Azerbaijan, against 1.9 million tons during the same period in 2013, reads the report of the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee.
“During this period transportation of transit oil from the Sangachal terminal via the BTC oil pipeline increased by1.63 times,” reads the report.
During 2013 3.3 million tons of transit oil was transported via BTC against 3.1 million tons in 2012.
This year delivery of Kazakhstan oil from the Tengiz field has led to growth of transit oil transportation via BTC. From July 2010 only Turkmenistan oil was transited via BTC. Transportation of Kazakhstan oil started since November 2012. In May 2014 Russian LUKoil private company has delivered the trial batch of transit oil of 30,000 tons via BTC.
