SOCAR-AQS company has started drilling of a new well on the shallow section of Guneshli field, a source from the company told Interfax-Azerbaijan agency.
The well No 33 is being drilled from the platform No 13. The target depth of the well is 3500 meters. The well will be drilled to the productive bed Podkirmakinskaya.
The expected daily production rate of the well is 15 tons of condensate and 150,000 cub.m. of gas. The well has been ordered by Azneft company of SOCAR.
Development of the shallow section of the Guneshli field started in 1980. The field ensures about 65% of the entire oil production of SOCAR.
SOCAR-AQS was established by SOCAR and Absheron Drilling Company in 2007 to provide well drilling and maintenance services.
At present SOCAR-AQS has been drilling from three drilling rigs located on the two stationary platforms on the shallow section of Guneshli field.
SOCAR-AQS has been also drilling as a part of the agreement with Bahar Energy operation company, on Umid field by order of SOCAR-Umid JV and on the Western Absheron field by order of Azneft.
