During 2013 turnover of SOCAR Petroleum SA, SOCAR’s daughter company in Romania, totaled 131.9 million Euro ($178 million at the current rate), reported press office of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) quoting Romanian ZiarulFinanciar newspaper.
According to the press office, author of the article Christi Mogan has analyzed activities of the companies operating in Romania with the annual turnover exceeding 100 million Euro in 2013. In 2013 there were 250 companies with such a turnover, of which 67 ones have doubled their turnover as compared to 2008 (beginning of the crisis in Europe).
Last year SOCAR Petroleum SA company increased its turnover by 7.7 times against 2008, said Mogan. That time the company’s turnover was only 15.2 million Euro.
The same source reported that total investments of SOCAR Petroleum SA reached 50 million Euro and 28 petrol stations under SOCAR brand name operate in 11 regions of Romania. In 2013 the company numbered 223 employees and each petrol station has 7-8 employees. At present SOCAR is the only shareholder of SOCAR Petroleum SA.
The consolidated financial report of SOCAR for year 2013 released in early July does not mention its “incomes” in Romania. Its incomes fell to the “other countries” (such as Romania and Ukraine) with the index of 313 million AZN (about 290 million Euro).
By the end of 2013 35 petrol stations under SOCAR brand name operated in Ukraine, now their number increased up to 39.
