Mircha Jeoane, the Romanian government’s representative, said that Romania is unable to supply Moldova with the proper volume of gas, Moldnews reported quoting the Unimedia portal of Moldovan news.
He means the Yassy-Ungeny gas pipeline, which must connect the Moldovan and Romanian gas transportation systems. Its carrying capacity will total 1.5 billion cub.m. of gas a year.
It was reported that the first gas deliveries from Romania to Moldova are expected at the end of August. However, it is also necessary to build compressor stations and build the gas pipeline from Ungen to Kishinev to launch the Ungeny-Yassy gas pipeline. Kishinev has failed to find donors for this project and for this reason in the near future only Ungen region could be supplied with the Romanian gas.
At present Gasprom supplies Moldova with gas, in 2014 Moldova planned to import about 2,8 billion cub.m. of gas, including the deliveries to the Transdniestr.
