State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will pay for the gas consumed by the churches, mosques and syngogues in Georgia.
“On May 3, 2014 SOCAR Georgia Energy President Mahir Mammadov signed an agreement with the Georgian Patriarchate, according to which SOCAR wil pay for the gas, which will be consumed by the public worship sites from November 1, 2013 to November 1, 2014,” reads information posted on SOCAR’s web site.
The agremeent has been concluded on the basis of the protocol of cooperation signed between SOCAR , the Georgian Ministry of Energy and Patriarchate on October 19, 2013. The sites, which will be supplied with free gas are included in the list drawn up by the Gorgian side. The list includes orthodox churches as well as mosques and synagogues.
