The Shah-Deniz consortium has selected Bredero Shaw International company as a contractor for insulation of pipes of the Southern Caucasian Pipeline Expansions (SCPX), BP-Azerbaijan company (technical operator of the project) said.
According to the same source, the cost of the contract is $70 million. The works envisages insulation of all the pipes, which will be used for the gas pipeline construction.
The works include wrapping the pipes with three layers of polyethylene from the outside and covering with epoxide from the inside.
The term of the contract is 18 months. The first batch of pipes is expected to be delivered to Azerbaijan at the end of 2014.
Since early year four contracts as a part of SCP expansion project have been signed.
SCPX envisages construction of a new 335-km-long gas pipeline in Azerbaijan. It is planned to build a new gas compressor station in Georgia.
The pipeline expansion will begin in early-middle 2015 and will be completed at the end of 2017. The pipeline life time will be 40 years.
