Kazakhstan plans to drill wells up to 14 km deep, Baltabek Kuandykov, President of the Kazakhstan Society of Oilmen-Geologists, told correspondent of Kazinform.
These ambitious plans have become a reality for the local prospectors after the presidential decree to create a separate agency, which will be in charge of all the works in field of geological exploration.
“Within the Eurasia project, which is planned to be implemented jointly with Russia, it is planned to study the deep-lying horizons of the Caspian depression, where dozens of fields have been discovered on the depth up to 5 km. For instance, in the Gulf of Mexico the fields have been discovered on the depth of 11-12 km. We plan to drill up to 14 km within the framework of Eurasia project,” Kuandykov said.
Study of the deep-lying beds of the Caspian depression will allow attracting modern technologies in Kazakhstan, require work of the scientists-geologists for creation of new drilling solutions able to withstand bigger depths and abnormally high temperatures. This will allow performing order of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to give an impetus to development of geological exploration in the country, which will finally lead to discovery of new oil and gas fields, reported www.Oilnews.kz.
