SOCAR-AQS drilling company, Daughter Company of SOCAR, will drill three new wells on the Umid offshore gas condensate field.
The two previous wells were drilled on the Umid field by SOCAR’s drilling trust.
SOCAR-AQS reported the average depth of the well will be 6700 meters. In the near future the company plans to start drilling of the first well to specify the hydrocarbon resources of the field.
“The technical inspection of the platform, repair and assembly works are currently in progress on Umid field,” said the same source.
SOCAR-AQS was established between SOCAR (21%) and Absheron Drilling company (49%) in 2007 as a joint venture, which provides integrated services for drilling and maintaining the wells.
Umid field was discovered in November 2010. According to SOCAR’s specialists’ estimates, the field has over 200 billion cub.m. of gas and 40 million tons of condensate.
By present the field has two operation wells with a total production rate of about 1.5 million cub.m. of gas a day.
Umid field is located 75 km away from Baku and 40 km away from the Caspian Sea coast. The first geophysical works were carried out here in 1953 and they were repeated in 1972. From 1977 till 1992 nine wells have been drilled here, none of which has brought any results.
