By 2021-2024 oil production in the Caspian Sea could reach 200 million tons a year and gas – 270 billion cub.m., Valeri Greifer, chairman of Board of Directors of LUKOil, said at the international economic forum “Caspian Dialogue.”
“The offshore projects are a priority for LUKoil, including the ones in the Caspian Sea. We also work in the Baltic Sea and abroad – in Romania, Vietnam and some other countries. In addition to increase in oil production, the main directions of our activities include training personnel, environment and reliability of equipment,” Greifer said.
According to BP’s estimates, the proved oil resources of five Caspian basin states total about 30 billion tons or 19% of proved world oil resources and proved natural gas resources – 145 trillion cub.m. or 45% of world proved natural gas resources.
ITAR-TACC earlier reported that in April 2010 LUKoil started oil production on the Korchagin field and the first tanker Caspian Stream with oil from this field was shipped in October 2010.
Korchagin field was discovered by LUKoil in 2000. The hydrocarbon resources of 3P category exceed 270 million barrel of oil equivalent, reported http://itar-tass.com.
