Kazakhstan hopes to start extraction of oil on the Kashagan field this year, said Sergey Smirnov, oil and gas industry expert.
“In 2014 the oil production is forecasted to total 83 million tons, which shows that despite serious problems with beginning of works on the Kashagan field, the government hopes to resume production on this field this year,” Sergey Smirnov told Trend news agency.
Last week Yerbolat Dosayev, Kazakhstan Minister of Economy and Budget Planning, said that the forecast of oil production for year 2014 remained 83 million tons.
In 2013 Kazakhstan extracted 81,731 million tons of oil, including gas condensate, up 3.2% against 2012.
