In January and February 2014 Georgia imported from Azerbaijan 368,056 tons of natural gas in oil equivalent to the amount of $76.06 million, reported the Georgian National Statistical Service.
Azerbaijan is the main supplier of this type of fuel to Georgia with a specific weight of 82.9% of total import of the country in this category.
According to the report, since early year Georgia has imported natural gas to the amount of $91.75 million. The remaining gas came from Russia.
Import of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 19.56% a year (by 49,016 tons in oil equivalent).
In January and February 2013 Georgia imported 319,400 tons of gas from Azerbaijan to the amount of $63.62 million.
During this period specific weight of gas in the total volume of import from Azerbaijan to Georgia constituted 67.2%.
In January and February 2014 Georgia imported from Azerbaijan products to the amount of $113.19 million. During this period import from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 15.49%. In January and February 2013 Georgia imported Azerbaijani products to the amount of $98.01 million.
Azerbaijan occupies the second place among the countries, from which Georgia imports its products. Specific weight of Azerbaijani import in the total volume of products delivered into the country constitutes 10%.
During 2013 Georgia imported products to the amount of $1.13 billion, up 15.49% against the same period last year.
