In January 2014 Azerenerji, state monopoly for power generation in Azerbaijan, generated 2.2 billion kwh of power.
According to Azerenerji press office, power generation increased by 4.7% against January 2013.
Azerenerji does not disclose information about generation of power by thermal and hydraulic power stations since 2011. Turan has used data of the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee for the table.
Azerenerji gives a report to the government about increase in power generation. But the last cold winter days showed that Azerenerji’s power networks near the capital of Azerbaijan cannot withstand the load and the customers are left without electricity for several years in cold days. Private TV channels showed that during the evening and night hours some districts have power outages. However, during 10 years Azerenerji has got almost $4 billion from the international financial institutions and the state budget to upgrade its system and the budgetary funds have not been repaid.
It is hard to find any indexes on the web site of Azerenerji. And the web site was not updated in the last six months. The web site says that Canub thermal power station will soon be put into operation in Shirvan city, though the station was launched in early July 2013.
