Minsk talks with Tehran on oil supplies, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said. “We are in talks with Iran, which is hastily trying to find the oil market and is ready to reduce the price,” he said at the end of last week at a meeting with parliamentarians.
Speaking about the dispute with Russia on gas prices and the subsequent reduction of Russian oil supplies to Belarus, he urged not to confuse “issues of oil and gas.” According to him, oil refineries “are enterprises that must be provided with oil to the eyeballs,” reports Prime.
Previously, Transneft warned Russian oil companies that from 11 October they will have to pay more for oil transit through Belarus. Minsk raised the rates by an average of 50%, but Moscow is trying to negotiate the cancellation of this decision. Transneft will accumulate the money that oil companies overpay for transportation and will return it, if Russia and Belarus settle their dispute on tariffs.
