SOCAR and BP-Azerbaijan put into operation an oil waste management center in the Garadagh district of Baku on September 23.
The total cost of the project amounted to slightly more than 60 million manats. The center will process oil waste from all the fields in Azerbaijan.
‘This will allow the oil companies operating in the country to save millions of USD on drilling waste treatment,’ the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev said.
He stressed the uniqueness of this center is in the full completion of drilling waste treatment for its reuse as a building material for road construction, as well as in the manufacture of cement.
The center has two mounted drilling waste treatment plants VacuDry of the German company Econ Industries GmbH. The center’s production capacity is 100,000 tons per year. Besides drilling waste, it is planned to process 26 types of waste.
