As has been agreed upon with the Georgian government, SOCAR Georgia Gas company had to gasify at least 150,000 new (potential) customers and invest at least $40 million. However, the size of investments has exceeded the forecast and the term of the gasification program has been extended.
“Georgia’s gasification continues. At present a new three-year-old investment program is in place. Our operations cover 90% of Georgia’s territory, though this makes only 45-48% of customers. By present 65-67% of real customers are supplied with gas in Georgia and 73-74% potential customers. This is a very high percentage and our goal is to increase the gasification level up to 80-82%. Considering the company’s possibilities, advisability and profitability of the projects, this will be a maximum level of Georgia’s gasification,” Mammadov said.
SOCAR Georgia Gas earlier said that by the end of 2015 number of customers in Georgia connected to the gas network is planned to be increased up to 480,000.
