By 2-16 Maersk Oil Kazakhstan plans to quadruple daily oil production on the Dunga field (Mangistau district of Kazakhstan) up to 4,000 tons, Interfax reported quoting the company’s press office.
The Phase 2 of the Dunga field is being developed by Maersk Oil company jointly with Oman Oil Company Limited and Partex Corporation and by 2016 it will allow increasing oil production on the field from 1,000 to 4,000 tons a day or by more than 1,000,000 tons a year at the expense of expansion and upgrade of its production capacities and infrastructure, the company’s press release says.
At present the company has drilled 100 out of 198 planned wells as a part of the Phase 2.
After their launching production rate of each new well with the target depth of 1,700 meters will be between 25 and 50 tons of oil a day, reads the company’s press release.
Total cost of the project is $1 billion. The drilling works are carried out by local Astra Star contractor company.
In 2002 Maersk Oil purchased 60% share and became operator of the Dunga field in Kazakhstan jointly with Partex Corporation (20%) and Oman Oil Company Limited (20%) company.
Maersk Oil is the oil and gas company registered in Dubai, which produces about 557,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day as an operator in Denmark, UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Algeria.
The company is also involved in the oil exploration in Angola, Norway, Gulf of Mexico, Greenland and Iraqi Kurdistan.
