In addition to increase in natural gas import from Turkmenistan, Iran has also expanded fuel deliveries from Azerbaijan, Ali Majadi, Iranian Deputy Minister of Oil for International Affairs, told Iranian Mehr news agency.
Majadi said that during first four months in 2014 125 million cub.m. of gas was delivered to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) as a part of swap operations.
Azerbaijan delivers gas to Iran for swap operations to supply NAR.
It was decided to create underground gas storage on the salt field in NAR to ensure stable gas deliveries to NAR.
The underground gas storage with the volume of 200-300 million cub.m. will be enough to supply NAR with gas.
