Production operations at the Tengiz field continue as normal after fires that broke out at electric generators have been put out at the plant, the Kazinform state news agency reported on Sunday, citing the Tengizchevroil (TCO, the operator of the field) press service.
“The fire was put out quickly, no one was hurt. TCO’s production operations continue as normal,” the news agency quoted TCO’s response.
Two electric generators caught fire at a third-generation plant in the Zhylyoi district on Sunday, media reports said.
“The safety of employees remains TCO’s top priority. The company is looking into the root causes of the incident in accordance with established procedures. However, TCO does not comment on individual details of its operational activities,” the press service said.
Previously, the KazMunayGas (KMG) national company said that a GT-9.3 turbine transformer caught fire at the GTPP-4 gas-turbine thermal power plant on January 18, a little later a fire was detected on the GTPP-4 transformer GT-9.5.
KMG said the staff were evacuated to safety, and the TCO emergency service put the fire out.
