Ukraine is negotiating with Azerbaijan on new natural gas supplies, Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said, Report informs via Interfax Ukraine.
“Ukraine continues negotiations with Azerbaijan on new natural gas supplies, as well as discussing the possibility of non-residents injecting gas into Ukrainian underground storage facilities and cooperation in the field of extraction within the framework of the Ukrainian-American Reconstruction Fund,” Hrynchuk said.
“We are holding talks, and the Azerbaijanis are interested,” the minister added.
She also noted that new supplies could arrive before the start of the heating season: “If we manage in time, we will sign a new contract and continue from there.”
Hrynchuk also emphasized ongoing discussions on allowing non-residents to inject gas into Ukraine’s underground storage facilities and on extraction projects within the Ukrainian-American Reconstruction Fund.
“We are working with our partners. Technical consultations continue on projects related to our gas storage facilities to increase the share of partner countries in their use, as well as on extraction projects under the Reconstruction Fund,” the minister said.
At the end of July 2025, Naftogaz Group signed its first agreement to purchase Azerbaijani gas with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, part of the SOCAR Group. Naftogaz noted that a test delivery of gas is being carried out via the Trans-Balkan corridor along the route Bulgaria–Romania–Ukraine for the first time.
According to Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretsky, although the delivery volume is small, it represents a strategically important step that paves the way for long-term cooperation.
