Job Description
Based on the area of responsibilities, Laboratory Commissioning Specialist carries out tasks and performs safe, precise, and accurate testing for determining chemical composition and main characteristics as per standard requirement or technical specifications, either on routine or non-routine samples/requests.
- Performs routine tasks without supervision
- Performs non-routine tasks without supervision
There are different sections in the Laboratory where Commissioning Specialists can be tasked as below based on their awareness, knowledge, and skills.
Hydrocarbon Laboratory Testing: The scope of this section covers raw materials (crude oil), process fluids (amine, glycol, methanol, caustic, and other production chemicals), and finished products (petroleum products, sour/sweet gas samples such as refinery gases, natural gas, LPG, Condensates, Butane, Propane and ect.)
Carries out simple testing (such as determination of Density, Water content, Flash point, Cloud point, Distillation, Viscosity, Sulphur etc.) Participates and performs complex instrumental analyses such as compositional analyses of Natural gas, Crude oil and Petroleum products using Gas Chromatographs (GCs), Engines (RON/MON/Cetane) and other techniques, by following the given method procedures, work instructions.
Water & Environmental Testing: The scope of this section covers water-based samples.
Carries out samples simple testing such as determination of pH, Conductivity, Turbidity, Hardness, Alkalinity, etc. Also, performs complex instrumental analyses such as determination of elements in water by IC, ICP OES, UV-VIS, etc. by following the method procedures, work instructions. This section also covers Microbiology testing, soil testing.
Non-routine Testing: The scope of this section covers unknown sample, particular studies, chemicals quality verification (and compatibility) and corrosion testing (coupon testing, microscope observation and electrochemical testing) where required; Performs either simple testing (qualitative and quantitative), or complex instrumental analysis, by following the method procedures, work instructions.
