Azerbaijan and China have reached agreement on the construction of new solar and wind power plants in Azerbaijan and a battery energy storage system, the Azertac state agency reports.
“The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and Chinese companies signed six documents between in Beijing on Tuesday during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China,” it said.
They include an investment agreement on the 100 MW Gobustan Solar Power Plant Project between Azerbaijan’s government and Universal Solar Azerbaijan LLC, which is the Azerbaijani subsidiary of China’s Universal Energy Co.
The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. signed an agreement on the assessment, development and implementation of an offshore wind energy project in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and SOCAR Green LLC signed an agreement with China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. on the assessment, development and implementation of a 100 MW floating solar power plant project with a 30 MW battery energy storage system in Lake Boyukshor in Baku.
They also signed an agreement with PowerChina Resources Limited on the assessment, development and implementation of a 160 MW solar power plant project and a memorandum of understanding with China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. and PowerChina Resources Limited on the development of a 2 GW offshore wind energy project in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The Energy Ministry and China’s Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of renewable energy and planning of the electric power system.
