Position Function
The Technical Advisor is responsible with providing specialized operational. Engineering, technical or functional
expertise to support applications in area of responsibility.
Key activities and Accountabilities
• Contributes to the resolution of complicated or unusual technical problems/issues; functions as a technical
specialist/expert whose knowledge in a particular discipline is recognized as extensive.
• Provides specialist input to projects as required.
• May provide costing proposals, perform risk analysis and manage change control.
• May provide cost/benefit analysis and prepare business case for projects.
• Assist with the evaluation of technology trends.
• Provides input to technical integrity and compliance of new equipment, systems or applications in area of
responsibility.
• Develops technical papers and relevant articles.
• Helps to resolve complicated or unusual problems requiring specific operational, engineering, technical or
functional expertise.
• Actively adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, procedures and processes to ensure the
highest ethical standards are maintained and exposure to liability or risk to company reputation is minimized.
Provide leadership in all ethical issues; ensure employees are aware of company compliance requirements
and feel able to report possible violations or conflicts of interest.
• Actively adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable Quality policies, procedures, processes & systems.
Take an active part in quality improvement processes. Act on reported deficiencies and approve deviations
from standard procedures as appropriate.
• Ensure that employees adhere to and comply with all applicable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
policies, procedures and processes. Provide leadership in HSE; encourage employees to take responsibility
and be accountable for their own and others’ safety and provide an environment where they feel authorized
to stop any unsafe job. Ensure that all incidents ana non-conformances are reported in line with the
appropriate procedures and deadlines; ensure that all incidents are investigated and corrective actions raised
as required; where appropriate, participates in incident investigations.
• Supervise, mentor and coach direct reports and ensure completion of their Employee Development Plans.
Where applicable, ensure that training and competency programs are in place to facilitate the mentoring of
subordinates through the competency system. Conduct competency assessments when required.
Job Knowledge and Qualifications
12+ years relevant experience in specialist area (oil and gas field)
Strong analytical, systems, applications related experience
Strong communication skills
Available to work to tight deadlines and twenty-four-hour call
Pro-active, “can do” attitude and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Able to seek continuous improvement in all aspects of the role and responsibilities
Excellent English knowledge
