Isatay Operating (a joint venture between Italy’s “Eni” and “KazMunayGas”) has completed drilling the exploratory well “Abay-1” in the marine block “Abay” in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.
The planned depth of the well was 2,500 meters, according to Kazakh media. It is worth noting that the “Abay” block is located in the northern part of the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea, 60-70 km northwest of the coast of the Buzachi Peninsula.
The distance to the shore is 65 km, and to the port of Atyrau is 150 km. The water depth in the area of the subsoil is 6-8 meters.
