Moldovan Prime Minister Dorine Recean said that the republic no longer depends on Russian gas supplies.
“Moldova is no longer dependent on Russian gas, as it was able to abandon its consumption by connecting to the European energy grid. If a year ago 100% of the energy resources consumed by Moldova were from Russia, now the republic can cope without the supply of Russian gas or electricity. Moldova no longer consumes Russian gas. It is integrated into the European energy network both technically and commercially,” Recean said on Thursday at the opening of the forum on security in the Black Sea and Balkan region in Bucharest.
For his part, Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă announced an order for a feasibility study of the transportation of Azerbaijani gas along the Kulevi-Constanta route.
The project provides for the construction of a gas liquefaction station in Kulevi (Georgia) and a liquefaction station in Constanta (Romania), the introduction of gas into pipelines, from where it can be transported in any direction. “This is an additional option for gas supply to Europe, if it proves viable, it will help to convert Romania into a gas hub for neighboring countries, Moldova, first of all,” Nicolae Ciucă said.
