In January 2023, the countries of the European Union (EU) imported 1 million 721 thousand 242.546 tons of oil from Azerbaijan for 1 billion 74 million 364.067 thousand euros.
In January 2022, 1 million 429 thousand 897.050 tons of oil worth 802 million 98.578 thousand euros were delivered from Azerbaijan to the EU countries, the monthly report of Eurostat. Thus, oil supplies from Azerbaijan to the EU in January 2023 increased by 20.4% (year-on-year (YoY) compared to January 2022). Revenue increased by 33.9% YoY.
Among the EU countries, the top 3 importers of oil from Azerbaijan in January 2023 included: Italy – 889,398,206 tons of oil (an increase of 14.8%) by 555 million 421,060 thousand euros (an increase of 25.9%), Spain – 246 thousand 463,024 tons (an increase of 1.9 times) by 153 million 940,844 thousand euro (2 times growth) and the Czech Republic – 203 thousand 547 tons (an increase of 18.4%) by 125 million 106,121 thousand euros (an increase of 34.4%).
In addition, during the reporting period, Portugal imported 126 thousand 28,656 tons from Azerbaijan (a decline of 41.8%) for 77 million 36,056 thousand euros (a decline of 38.1%), Ireland – 86 thousand 628,640 tons (there were no deliveries in January 2022) for 55 million 557,615 thousand euros, France – 82 thousand 695 tons (in January 2022 there were no deliveries) by 54 million 95,174 thousand euros, Germany – 69 thousand 573 tons (a decline of 1.9 times) by 42 million 712,819 thousand euros (a decline of 39.1%) and Austria – 16 thousand 909 tons (in January last year there were no deliveries) by 10 million 494,356 thousand euros.
It should be noted that in 2022, the EU countries, according to Eurostat, imported 19 million 844 thousand 774.024 tons of oil from Azerbaijan (a decline of 0.65% from the indicator of 2021) for 15 billion 164 million 952.199 thousand euros (an increase of 67.3%).
