Romanian “Romgaz” will buy up to 300 mcm of Azerbaijani gas from SOCAR in the first quarter of 2023. On December 16, 2022, SOCAR signed an agreement with “Romgaz S.A.” for the supply of Azerbaijani gas, starting from 2023.”

The signed spot short-term contract provides for the supply by SOCAR of up to 300 mcm from January 1 to April 1, 2023,” ICIS (Independent Commodity Intelligence Services) reports.

According to the report, the daily volume of gas supplies will be up to 4.2 mcm.

Earlier, SOCAR reported that “Romgaz S.A.” will be able to receive Azerbaijani gas through the IGB interconnector with an exit point in Komotini (Greece).

In turn, ‘Romgaz S.A.” reported that “the signing of this contract provides the possibility of access to Azerbaijani gas to cover the needs.”

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said earlier that Azerbaijan exported 19 bcm of gas in 2021. At the same time, deliveries to Europe amounted to 8.2 bcm. This year it is planned to export 11.3 bcm of blue fuel to Europe. In 2023, exports are projected at up to 24 bcm, including 11.6 bcm to Europe.
