The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to drill new oil wells in the Naftalan region, stated the vice-president of the company Khalik Mammadov at the forum “Naftalan – a source of synergy of health and tourism: new realities in the region” held in Naftalan.
“Given the importance of Naftalan oil, our company, on behalf of the president, has prepared a special program that provides for the drilling of new wells. The first such well is planned to be drilled to a depth of 3.5 thousand meters in 2023,” he said.
According to Mammadov, the initial balance reserves of the Naftalan field are estimated at 1.165 million tons, and the initial recoverable reserves – at 117,000 tons. Of these, 52% have been mastered. Currently, the remaining balance reserves are 1.109 million tons, and the remaining recoverable reserves are 61 thousand tons. The number of wells is 94 and the number of wells in operation is 32.
