The total volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Italy through the Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) amounted to 8.5 bcm of gas, the statement of the pipeline company TAP AG.
Azerbaijan started gas supplies to Europe on December 31, 2020. Italy is currently the main buyer of Azerbaijani gas in Europe.
“Until now, a total of 10 billion cubic meters have been transported from Azerbaijan through the TAP gas pipeline. Of these, approximately 8.5 billion cubic meters were delivered to Italy,” the report says.
“10 bcm is a symbolic but important milestone. Just over a year after starting commercial operations, we have provided our shippers with efficient, reliable and uninterrupted transport services, making an important contribution to Europe’s energy security and supply diversification. Now we can reach TAP’s full transport capacity of 10 bcm per year. In addition, we can add additional capacity through short-term auctions,” said TAP Managing Director Luca Schieppati, quoted in a press release.
Earlier, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that the export of Azerbaijani gas to Italy in 2022 will amount to 7.4 bcm.
