President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov criticized the work of the country’s fuel and energy complex, national television reported on December 4.
The head of state made his critical remarks regarding the basic industry of the Turkmen economy at an expanded government meeting following the results of 11 months of 2021.
After listening to the report of Deputy Prime Minister Shahym Abdrahmanov, who oversees the industry, the head of state noted that “if there is a certain growth in the gas industry, there is still much to be done in the oil industry, since there are no changes for the better.”
“There are no proposals to improve the work of the industry, and the measures you are taking have not yet yielded the desired results. And the factories in which we are investing heavily are still not used at full capacity. They operate at 50% of their capabilities,” said the head the state.
According to him, the work on attracting investments to the oil and gas industry and the development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian is under way.
According to Berdymukhamedov, “at present, it is necessary to keep under special control the progress of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and work on the construction of new enterprises for processing hydrocarbon raw materials.”
“Analyze the situation in the industry and take the necessary measures to improve the situation. We will once again consider the situation in the fuel and energy complex at a government meeting following the results of this year,” the president stressed. Shahym Abdrahmanov was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Complex in February 2021. Then he replaced Myratgeldi Meredov in this post, who was fired for serious shortcomings in his work.
