Oil production in Kazakhstan in the first quarter decreased by 10.6%
In January-March 2021, Kazakhstan produced 21.1 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons, including 13.5 million tons at three large fields. This was announced by the Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev.
Note that in the first quarter of 2020, Kazakhstan produced 23.6 million tons of oil and condensate. Thus, the volume of extraction of raw materials in January-March 2021 decreased by 2.5 million tons, or 10.6%.
“The volume of oil and condensate production at Tengiz was 6.7 million tons of oil, at Kashagan – 3.7 million tons, the indicators of the Karachaganak project – 3.1 million tons. The plan has been fulfilled by 100%,” the minister said.

Over the reported period, 16.6 million tons of oil were exported; the plan was also fulfilled by 100%.
According to the Minister of Energy, following the OPEC + meeting on April 1, 2021, the volume of oil production will reach a gradual increase by 6 thousand barrels per day in May, June and July, respectively.
* The maximum level of oil and condensate production in Kazakhstan was recorded in 2019 – 90.5 million tons. A year later, this figure dropped to 85.7 million tons, of which 68.5 million tons of raw materials, or 75.7%, were exported.
